Assess the circularity impact with the CEI tool

If you want to uncover the environmental impact of your items from start to finish measuring the increase in material recycling and usage potential CEI is your tool.

Let’s start with the basis:

πŸ‘‰πŸ» How do I access? Find the CEI work section within the sidebar. Metrics > CEI

In the CEI product we will provide you with data on your products, based on MCI methodology of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, with respect to their circularity results. Centralize your data in one place, and synthesize all the information you need in a blink of an eye.

πŸ‘‰πŸ» For the moment, CEI is a newly launched and Beta product: in a few months we will be adding new views, functionalities and indicators. In case you want to know more information about the evolution of CEI, please contact us.

What information can I find out?

πŸ’‘ It is important to know that, CEI is currently only active for apparel, footwear and bags projects, but we’re working to expand its scope to other product categories in the near future.

Overview

1. Material Circularity Indicator score (MCI)

The Material Circularity Indicator (MCI) reflects the circularity aspects of products. It analyses the restoration of material flows and is based on four principles:

  1. using feedstocks from reused and recycled resources,
  2. reusing components or recycling materials after the use of the product,
  3. keeping products in use longer (e.g. by reuse/redistribution),
  4. making more intensive use of products.

2. Recycled content (kg)

The column represents the mass of recycled content in the articles.

3. Unrecoverable waste (kg)

Unrecoverable waste includes waste that will end up in landfill or incinerated without sustainable energy recovery. Unrecoverable waste can be generated when recycling the feedstock, during production and at the end-of-life of the product.

4. Utility

The usage potential is estimated based on the validation of eco-design practices that potentially improve the intensity and the length of use of the garment. Best practices are based on materials quality, colors, styles, care and size and fit.
