Data accuracy on the BCome platform is a shared responsibility between BCome, as the methodology provider, and you, the brand, as the product expert.
This partnership ensures that the final results are both scientifically robust and true to the specific product being assessed.
BCome’s responsibility: The framework and guidance
BCome is responsible for the integrity of the assessment’s foundation. We guarantee:
- A robust methodology: We provide a scientifically sound and standardized framework for both the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and the Eco-Score, built on global standards.
- Accurate background data: We are responsible for maintaining and updating the extensive background databases (like Ecoinvent and the PEF database) that power the calculations.
- Expert guidance: Our Sustainability Managers are available to guide you through the process, helping you apply the methodology correctly and interpret your results.
The brand’s responsibility: Specific product data
You are the expert on your own products and supply chain. As the user, your responsibility is to:
- Provide accurate information: Accurately enter the specific details of your product—such as material composition, supplier names and locations, and processes used—into the Traceability form.
The quality of your results is directly dependent on the quality of the data you provide. The more accurate and complete your input data is, the more precise and reliable your final sustainability scores will be. While we provide the framework and support, BCome is not a certifier and does not perform external audits to verify the primary data entered by brands.
