What if I cannot provide the certificate’s documentation?

If you don’t have the certificate documentation immediately available, you can still declare the certificate in your Traceability form. However, you should be prepared to provide the documentation if requested for verification.

The role of documentation

Providing supporting documentation for your declared certificates is a key part of maintaining the transparency and credibility of your Eco-score. While our system operates on a trust-based model, verification is essential for ensuring the integrity of all sustainability claims made on the platform.

What to do now

  1. Declare the certificate: You should still select the relevant certificate for your material or supplier within your Traceability form. This allows your Eco-score to be calculated based on the information you have provided.
  2. Source the documentation: In the meantime, we strongly recommend you work on obtaining a digital copy of the certificate from your supplier or the original certifying body. Having this on file is a best practice for your own records and for ensuring transparency.

Verification and spot checks

To ensure the reliability of the data, BCome reserves the right to conduct verification checks on declared certificates at any time.

If we request the documentation for a certificate you have declared and it cannot be provided, the claim associated with that certificate will be invalidated, and your Eco-score will be adjusted accordingly. Our goal is to work together to build a transparent and credible system, and being prepared to validate your claims is a crucial part of that process.
