What information should I declare to calculate a proper Eco-score?
For calculating the Eco-score, a very small amount of assumptions can be made. This is why the minimum rate of information required to calculate the Eco-score is very high. All the information used to calculate the Eco-score is defined as mandatory data. Only a small part of the mandatory data can be substituted by an assumption from BCome methodology. Each analysis has a max assumption rate based on the data for which a standardized assumption is available. To sum up, the type of required data is divided between:
- Mandatory (M): Mandatory data to be filled in to be able to make the calculation.
- Mandatory, assumption allowed (M-A): Mandatory data to be filled on which an assumption can be made according to BCome methodology.
To obtain accurate and precise results for the Eco-score product, follow the data summary below.
Scope | Type of information required |
---|---|
Articles | – Name and reference Mandatory – Category to which the product belongs Mandatory – Materials used (parts) Mandatory – Manufacturing supplier names Mandatory – Item’s weight Mandatory – Weight of each material within the article Mandatory (assumption allowed) – Article finishing supplier names (dye process, treatment process, print process) Mandatory (assumption allowed) |
Materials | – Material name Mandatory – Material reference Mandatory (assumption allowed) – Category Mandatory – Composition percentages Mandatory – Composition names Mandatory – Composition origins Mandatory – Certificates Mandatory (assumption allowed) – Suppliers names Mandatory (assumption allowed) |
Suppliers | – Suppliers’ names Mandatory – Suppliers’ origins Mandatory – Social, environmental and finishing certificates Mandatory (assumption allowed) – Best social & environmental practices Mandatory (assumption allowed) |
Corporate | – Best practices for planet, people, circularity and transparency Mandatory (assumption allowed) |
