What is a Life Cycle Assessment?

A Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is a standardized methodology (ISO 14040/14044) which allows to quantify the potential environmental impacts of a product system, over its entire life cycle. It is based on the characterization of inputs and outputs flow, such as energy or air emissions, into impact indicators. LCAs are useful tools assisting businesses and consumers in making decisions that will benefit the environment.
